(NASHVILLE, Tennessee) -- Reflection Music Group is proud to announce that Loose Canon, the national debut EP from Atlanta-based artist Canon, will be released on October 16th. The music video for "Loud Music," featuring Derek Minor, is already making an impact through social media.
No stranger to Christian Hip Hop fans, Canon has been seen from coast to coast on tour with chart-topping artist Lecrae, serving as the hype man and opening act on the successful Overdose and Gravity tours. He's also made appearances on recordings by Lecrae, Derek Minor and RMG.
Born in Chicago, Aaron "Canon" McCain was raised in the church but his surroundings encouraged a rebellious attitude that often led to violent activity. But at the age of 13, he emerged unscathed from a horrific car accident with the realization that life was fragile. His curiosity about God began to grow, and in high school, he began rapping and making his own beats with friends. He eventually started attending a Hip Hop church called The House, where the pastor began to pour into him and eventually led him to a genuine relationship with Christ.
After high school, Canon left Illinois and headed to Memphis to attend Bible College. It was there that Canon connected with Lecrae, as well as other Christian artists including Derek Minor and Chad Jones. They encouraged him the share his faith through music, and Canon took their advice, releasing The Great Investment mixtape in 2009. Favorable reviews caught the attention of fans around the world, who were excited to see him featured on Lecrae's top-selling Rehab: The Overdose (Reach Records) and several other projects. Before long, Canon was touring with Lecrae as his hype man and opening act.
"My desire is simply to contribute truth to culture while being true to who I am as an artist and a young person that is also influenced by culture," says Canon. "I want my music and my life to inspire others to repent and trust in Christ."
